Aware Mind and Body

How do I know this is right for me?

  • Only you can determine if this approach is the right one. Symptoms are an invitation to explore the deeper aspects of your mind and body. Taking positive action usually produces positive results. Like with everything, you can't know, unless you try.

I’m scared to get help. What do I do about that?

  • I understand how scared and vulnerable you can feel in opening up to a stranger about your struggles. Many, many people feel this way. I am highly skilled in the therapeutic discipline of objective compasionate listening. We will work as a team. You provide your story and I will listen, assess and treat. Together we will work to achieve a more balanced state of being. I start when you reach out. If you do reach out, I will do everything in my power to help. It’s the essence of what I do.

Do I have to be in therapy forever?

  • Therapy is a useful, but transcient tool. My ultimate goal is for you to internalize the therapy experience, so that it serves as a tool for independent functioning. The end point is a state of resilience allowing you to navigate whatever challenges life throws at you. Together we will determine which tools and skills best address your condition and implement them. A successfull outcome is sustained psychological health. At that point, any further visits are optional.

What is the first session like?

  • I will invite you to sit down with me in a secure comfortable room. I may begin with a few basic questions, and then I will invite you to share your story. While listening, I will take some notes and may occasionally ask a few questions for clarification. At the end, I will summarize my understanding and discuss with you my first impressions, possible areas for further evaluation and the next steps.
